On 9/11, Stephen Siller, beloved husband and father of five, was off-duty and on his way home from Squad 1, Park Slope, Brooklyn, to play golf with his three older brothers.

When he heard that the World Trade Center had been hit by a plane, Stephen headed towards the site. The Brooklyn Battery Tunnel was already closed, so he parked his truck and strapped 65 lbs. of fire gear to his back and raced through the tunnel towards the Twin Towers to save lives.

Stephen laid down his life to save others that fateful day.

The Tunnel to Towers Run retraces Stephen's final heroic footsteps. When we run, or walk, along this path we not only honor Stephen, we honor and remember the other 342 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 PAPD officers, EMTs, Court officers and fire marshals who also died saving others on 9/11…THEY WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!

Today, through our "Never Forget" programs, the  Tunnel to Towers Foundation hosts 5K runs and Tower Climbs across the country as a living 9/11 memorial tribute. As support to our armed services the Foundation's Building for America's Bravest program constructs specially designed smart homes for our military veterans returning home with devastating injuries, helping restore their ability to be independent. Tunnel to Towers also continues to support the families of fallen first responders across the country… together, we can show our profound gratitude for all they have sacrificed.

I PROMISE TO NEVER FORGET
